Who We Are
A Foundation Rooted in Care, Grown Through Community
Maureen Bweupe Care Foundation was born out of a simple, powerful idea:
What if we raised caregivers by letting them live alongside the people they’re learning to serve?
Our founder, Maureen Bweupe, saw firsthand the challenges vulnerable elders face every day—loneliness, lack of proper care, and isolation. At the same time, she recognized a growing need to train compassionate, skilled caregivers right here in Zambia.
So she built a foundation where both could grow—together.
Today, we run a certified Nursing Assistant course in Zambia that’s unlike any other. Here, students learn the art of care not just from textbooks, but by sharing meals, stories, and everyday moments with the elders who live among them.
In this shared space, students become more than caregivers and elders more than patients. They live and grow side by side, learning what it truly means to care, and what it means to be cared for.
This is the heart of our work, and the future we’re building.
What We Do
We provide hands-on elderly care in Zambia, with services that meet real, daily needs:
- Safe housing and personal support for vulnerable seniors
- Fresh meals grown in our on-site vegetable and flower garden
- Regular home visits for isolated elders
- A growing food bank to serve families in crisis
- Community outreach focused on long-term well-being
We also train the next generation of caregivers through our Nursing Assistant program, which offers room and board, as well as real-world learning opportunities in a supportive, community-based setting.
Why We’re Different
Make a difference
Most caregiving programs teach from a distance.
We bring students closer to the people, the work, and the heart of the profession.
Most facilities keep generations apart.
We bring them together—because we believe both grow stronger in the presence of the other.
We’re building a community of care, with rooms for 100 elderly individuals and 50 students, all under one mission.
Our Goals
- Build a comprehensive care facility with space for both elders and students
- Expand our food bank initiative to serve more families in need
- Continue home visits and outreach to reach those who cannot come to us
- Raise a generation of certified caregivers who lead with skill and heart
Our Mission
To empower and support vulnerable individuals in our community, particularly the elderly, by providing essential services, education, and a nurturing environment that promotes health, dignity, and independence.
Our Vision
A Zambia where every elderly person lives with dignity, and every caregiver is trained through connection, compassion, and experience.
